Description
This photo was taken in "Old factory", big complex of ruins on the outskirts of my home town - Police (near Szczecin)."Old factory" or Hydrierwerke Pölitz was one of the biggest German synthetic fuel factories in the times of World War II. Germans don't have their own oil sources, so in early twenties they invented a way to produce fuel from hard bituminous coal. In this factory they produced 61.000 tons of synthetic fuels per month. About 20% of total Third Reich production. In this was 50.000 tons of aviation fuel - 28% of total production.
Hydrierwerke Pölitz was destroyed by the Allied bombings at night from 12 to 13 May 1944, at noon 29 May 1944, in Christmas Eve 1944 and in January 1945.
Right now "Old factory" is a beautiful land, where wild nature plays among tens of ruined buildings, bunkers and other instalations. Some of the ruins are about ten floors high, some of them have well preserved stairs, so You can easily go up to the roof. And what's more important, You can spend there all day, but there are always some good photos left to take.
I was playing a bit with colors in this one. Original photo and BW version are included as well.
And no, it isn't tilted.
Some other (not mine) photos of this place.
